Falcons Fall to Aces

Anchorage, Alaska - The Fresno Falcons opened their two-game series at Sullivan Arena with a 4-0 loss to the Alaska Aces in front of 4,590 fans on Tuesday night.

The first period was all Alaska as the Aces out-shot the Falcons 18-5 and took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. Joe Talbot opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 11:55, and Vladimir Novak extended the lead to 2-0 just 45 seconds later. Kimbi Daniels finished off the first period scoring with the Aces' second power-play goal of the night at 15:39.

Alaska held onto its 3-0 lead until the 9:39 mark of the third period when Stephen Later tucked a shot past Scott Stirling on the glove side to give the Aces a four-goal advantage.

Stirling was busy in the defeat turning aside 38 of 42 Alaska shots.

Fresno concludes its two-game series in Alaska on Wednesday, with face-off set for 8:15 p.m. PT. Catch all of the play-by-play action on 1550 Sporting News Radio, starting with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show at 8:00.

The Falcons are back at home on Friday, hosting the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7:30 p.m. The Falcons will be wearing red hearts on the back of their helmets in celebration of February being national Go Red for Women Heart Month, to remember those who have passed away of heart disease and to celebrate those who have survived. Friday's game also includes a Guns and Hoses Broomball Game where area police and fire departments will duke it out for Broomball Supremacy. The Falcons also welcome the Central Valley Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts to the game. Fans are also encouraged to come to the game with their bags packed for the chance to win a weekend getaway at Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino. Two lucky couples will be selected to receive a limo ride to the casino, $250 in spending money, two "Dinner for Two" certificates, and accommodations for Friday and Saturday nights.
