INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Missouri Mavericks announced today that veteran Kansas City sportscaster Joel Goldberg will handle play-by-play duties for the "Friday Night Ice" television broadcasts of Mavericks hockey on KSMO-TV this season. Mavericks assistant coach and director of skill development Simon Watson will handle color commentary for the second season in a row.
"We are ecstatic to have Joel Goldberg as our television play-by-play announcer this season," said Mavericks general manager Brent Thiessen. "He is a well-known and loved broadcaster in the Kansas City area and he is well-versed in hockey play-by-play with his prior experience calling collegiate games. He, along with Simon Watson, will really elevate our television product this season."
"I'm thrilled to join the Mavericks family and call their televised games this season," said Goldberg. "The Mavericks have become a premier organization in the region and I hope I can add to the fans enjoyment of this exciting experience."
