Adirondack Thunder News Release

WHO: Adirondack Thunder (2-0-1-0) vs. Elmira Jackals (1-2-0-0)

WHAT: ECHL REGULAR SEASON GAME #52

WHEN: Tuesday, October 25, 2016 @ 7:00 PM

WHERE: Glens Falls Civic Center - Glens Falls, NY

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight is the first of 11 meetings between New York State rivals Adirondack and Elmira. The two North Division foes will also square off over the weekend, meeting on Friday in Elmira and Saturday back at the Civic Center. The Jackals held the upper hand in the season series in 2015-16, winning 7 of 11 meetings, including four of five in Glens Falls.

WALL-E: Defenseman Alex Wall has collected assists in each of the Thunder's first three games, joining teammates Ty Loney and Mathieu Brodeur as the only Thunder players to find the scoresheet in each of the team's opening three games. Wall's three assists lead all Adirondack defensemen and his +1 rating is tied for third amongst all Thunder skaters.

WARD OFF ALL FOES: Forward Brian Ward tied the score on Saturday with a breakaway goal early in the third period. Ward's tally was his second in three games, making him the only Thunder player with multiple goals on the season. Ward is currently in first full professional season after he made his professional debut in 2016 in one game with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers.

SPECIAL TEAMS SUCCESS: Adirondack is currently one of six ECHL teams yet to concede a power-play goal on the season, as they are a perfect 6-for-6 while a man down. The Thunder also opened up their power-play scoring on Saturday as defenseman Mathieu Brodeur found the back of the net midway through the second period. Brodeur collected five power-play goals a season ago between the regular season and playoffs, topping the charts for Thunder defensemen.

FIRST TIMERS: The Thunder saw a pair of firsts in Saturday's overtime loss to Manchester as Brett Pollock scored his first career ECHL goal, while Stepan Falkovsky collected his first career ECHL point with an assist. Pollock's goal also marked his second point on the season, with both players appearing in all three games to date.

BIG FELLAS ON THE BLUELINE: With the addition of six-foot-six defenseman Keegan Kanzig, the Thunder now have three defenseman that stand at 6-6 or taller, also including Mathieu Brodeur (6-6) and Stepan Falkovsky (6-7). Including forwards and goaltenders, eight players on the Thunder roster stand at 6-4 or taller with an additional three at 6-3.
