New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH- Brian Jeroloman's two-out RBI single in the sixth inning gave the New Hampshire Fisher Cats a 3-2 lead, and his two-out, run-scoring double in the eighth inning staked the Fisher Cats to a 4-3 lead, but the Portland Sea Dogs outlasted the Fishers 5-4 in 12 innings on Friday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

Portland (34-38) grabbed a 1-0 lead by scoring an unearned run in the top of the first inning against Luis Perez. Josh Reddick (1-for-5, 2 R, 2 BB, SB) reached on an error, stole second base and scored when Jorge Jimenez (2-for-6, 2 RBI) lined a single up the middle.

The Fisher Cats (32-42) drew even 1-1 in the home half of the first against Ryne Lawson when Nick Gorneault (1-for-5, RBI, SB, BB) grounded a two-out single off the third base bag, allowing Scott Campbell (1-for-5, BB, 2 R), who had walked, to score from third base.

Jon Still (1-for-6, HR) made it 2-1 Portland when he crushed a solo home run, his eighth, off the facing of the Samuel Adams Bar & Grill with one out in the top of the fourth.

New Hampshire erased the deficit and went in front in the bottom of the sixth inning. Facing Chris Province, Campbell led off the frame with a single to center, and Brian Dopirak (1-for-6, R) extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a single to right-center, putting runners on the corners. Campbell scored the tying run when Portland catcher Mark Wagner was charged with a passed ball, and Jeroloman's two-out single to center plated Dopirak for a 3-2 lead.

The lead would disappear in the next half inning when Perez walked Reddick with one out. Adrian Martin entered the game and yielded back-to-back singles to Ryan Khoury (2-for-3, 2B, 3 BB, HBP) and Jimenez (2-for-6, 2 RBI), whose base hit to right scored Reddick, tying the game 3-3.

The Fisher Cats forged ahead 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth when Jeroloman laced a two-out opposite-field double down the left field line off Province, allowing Adam Calderone (1-for-5, BB, R), who walked, to score from first base.

The Sea Dogs answered right back in the top of the ninth when pinch-hitter Reid Engel (2-for-3, HR, 2B, RBI, 2 R) smacked a Martin offering over the right field wall for his third homer, knotting the score 4-4. Rommie Lewis came out of the bullpen and induced a bases-loaded force-out off the bat of Still to preserve the tie and force extra innings.

In the top of the 12th, Ryan Kalish (1-for-5, R) beat out an infield single and scored the winning run when Argenis Diaz (1-for-5, 2B, RBI, R) doubled into the right field corner off losing pitcher Danny Farquhar (1-3).

T.J. Large (3-0) pitched two no-hit innings, walking one and fanning one to pick up the win.

Farquhar (1-3) allowed a run on four hits in two innings to take the loss. The right-hander walked one and struck out one.

New Hampshire and Portland meet again Saturday night at 7:05pm, with the Fisher Cats expected to activate right-hander Rey Gonzalez (3-4, 3.07) to oppose Sea Dogs' righty Adam Mills (2-5, 6.27). Radio coverage begins with the BayRing Pre-Game Show at 6:45pm with Mike Murphy on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.

Saturday night is 80s Night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium, and following the celebration of that decade, fans will enjoy a post-game Atlas Fireworks Show. For tickets, visit www.nhfishercats.com or call (603) 641-2005.
