Asheville, NC-- The start of the second half of the season began with something the Asheville Tourists had not accomplished the entire first half; they pitched a shutout. Asheville only managed one run, which came in the top of the ninth, but it was all they needed. The Tourists beat the GreenJackets 1-0 on Thursday night.

Tourists' starter Zach Jemiola pitched back and forth with Augusta's Christian Jones. Jemiola tossed 6.2 scoreless innings while Jones lasted seven for the home team. Troy Neiman came in for Jemiola and recorded the final out in the bottom of the seventh.

Jordan Patterson led off the top of the eighth with a single but Asheville was not able to bring him around. After Neiman retired the GreenJackets in order, the Tourists had another chance in the top of the ninth.

Michael Benjamin led off with an infield single and took second on a strike three wild pitch. With Correlle Prime at the plate, Benjamin advanced to third on another wild pitch. After Prime drew a walk and Jose Briceno at the plate with two outs, Benjamin raced home to score on the third GreenJackets wild pitch of the inning.

Neiman issued a one-out walk in the bottom of the ninth, but retired the final two hitters without any problems. Both teams finished with six hits and neither squad committed an error. No individual player had more than one hit.

The Tourists are now 4-1 against Augusta this season with all five games coming on the road. Asheville is back in action on Friday for Game Two of their four-game series against the GreenJackets. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
