(Lakewood Township, NJ)- The West Virginia Power beat the Lakewood BlueClaws 2-1 on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Park. Danny Collins singled in JaCoby Jones to put the Power in front in the fifth and three West Virginia pitchers made the lead stick to snap a 14-game losing streak.

The BlueClaws took a 1-0 lead off Buddy Borden in the second with a solo home run by Zach Green. The Power evened the score in the fourth when Harold Ramirez scored on a throwing error by catcher Andrew Knapp.

Jones was hit by a Mark Leiter, Jr., pitch to leadoff the fifth inning. After a sac bunt moved Jones into scoring position, Collins singled to center and Jones scored the go-ahead and eventual winning run. Collins hit snapped an 0-22 drought and a seven game hitless streak.

Borden (3-5) pitched six innings for the win, allowing the one run on six hits while striking out four. Henry Hirsch worked two scoreless innings for his first hold and Isaac Sanchez tossed the ninth for his third save. Leiter took the loss after allowing both runs, though only one was earned, and striking out nine.

West Virginia and Lakewood meet again Friday evening at 7:05 pm. Cody Dickson will start for the Power against the BlueClaws Jon Prosinski at FirstEnergy Park.
