Augusta, GA--The Augusta GreenJackets (34-35) lost to the Asheville Tourists (42-28) in the first game of the series, on Thursday night, at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The final score was 1-0.

Despite the loss, GreenJackets starting pitcher, Christian Jones (3-3), pitched one of his best games this season. Jones pitched seven scoreless innings in his twelfth start of the season. He gave up four hits and struck out seven. He now has an ERA of 2.72.

Lack of offense by the GreenJackets hurt the team. The GreenJackets had six hits in the game. They went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left a total of eight men on base.

The lone run of the game came in the top of the ninth inning for the Tourists. Michael Benjamin singled to shallow left field. Back to back wild pitches by Daniel Slania advanced Benjamin to third. After a pitching change by the GreenJackets, DJ Snelten threw a wild pitched and Benjamin scored.

The GreenJackets continue their series against the Tourists on Friday, June 20. It's Mascot Invasion and SUDIA night at the ballpark! It's also North Augusta Chamber of Commerce Night. Great seats are still available by logging onto GreenJacketsBaseball.com. Catch the Buzz!
