Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that catcher Jairo Rodriguez has been promoted to the Rochester Red Wings of the International League. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

Rodriguez played in 15 games for the Kernels, batting .149 (7-47) with 4 RBI. He was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent in 2007 and spent the 2012 season with Beloit.

The Twins did not announce a corresponding move. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one below the MWL maximum of 25, with one player currently on the disabled list.

The Kernels begin a six game home stand tonight against the Peoria Chiefs at 6:35 pm. It's a Free Money Wednesday as the Kernels are giving away $1,000 at the main gates with the top cash prize $100. Gates open at 5:30 pm and the upcoming home stand continues through Monday, July 29th.
