
Jackson and Denny return to Gwinnett; Grimaldi Called up to AHL Peoria

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defensemen Jimmy Jackson and Chad Denny have been reassigned to the Gladiators from the AHL's Peoria Rivermen and the Chicago Wolves respectively. In addition, defenseman Joe Grimaldi was called up to the Peoria Rivermen.
Jackson was called up to Peoria on March 1st and played in 17 games with the Rivermen notching six points on five goals and an assist. Jackson played in seven AHL games with the Manitoba Moose this season from February 7th to 24th. Jackson also recorded a multiple point game in Peoria notching 2 assists against Houston on March 25th.
Jackson has played in 27 games for the Gladiators this season tallying 10 goals and 4 assists on the season. He has also compiled a +9 plus/minus rating.
Denny, under contract to the Atlanta Thrashers, was reassigned to Chicago on March 12th. The defenseman from Eskasoni First Nations, NS played in 11 games for the Wolves and notched 2 goals and 4 assists. Denny also scored at least one point in five straight games with the Wolves from March 14th to March 22nd.
On the season, Denny has notched 7 goals and 6 assists for 13 points with the Gladiators.
Grimaldi will make his third appearance of the season in the AHL, his first with the Rivermen. He played in two games with the Rochester Americans on October 26th and 27th and one game with the Albany River Rats on December 16th. The Gladiators acquired Grimaldi in a trade with the Fresno Falcons on February 19th.
Since joining the Gladiators, Grimaldi has scored 4 points on 1 goal and 3 assists in 21 games in Gwinnett this season. Overall, the Ronkonkoma, NY native has totaled 4 goals and 17 assists for 21 points playing with eth Elmira Jackals, Fresno Falcons and the Gladiators.
Jackson and Denny will be available for the Gladiators as they host the Charlotte Checkers to open the 2008 South Division Quarterfinals on Tuesday. Grimaldi will be available for the Rivermen on Wednesday as they travel to Rockford to take on the IceHogs.
The Gladiators continue their fifth anniversary season with Game 1 of the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs on Tuesday, April 8th as they host the Charlotte Checkers at the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 7:05 p.m. Catch all the play-by-play action in Tuesaday's game online via Accessnorthga.com.
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier 'AA' Hockey League in 2007-08, the ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that has 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-08. The 25 teams includes the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals. The ECHL will play 900 games beginning Oct. 18 and concluding Apr. 5.
