Dayton Bombers News Release

Johnstown, PA- The Dayton Bombers took the road to continue their quarterfinal match-up against the Johnstown Chiefs at Cambria County War Memorial in front of 1,498 fans. ECHL All Rookie Team Member Matt Beaudoin and the defending American Conference Champion Bombers looked to extend the series as they took on the Chiefs for the 3rd time in 4 nights.

The game started off fast as Johnstown was able to win the opening face-off and take it down the ice where Ryan Garlock notched the first goal of the game for the Chiefs just 11 seconds into the game. The goal was Garlock's first of the playoffs with the assists credited to Alexandre Imbeault and Randy Rowe. Garlock earned his second of the night at the 9:29 mark, rifling one past Beauchemin just as the Bombers had killed off a Chiefs' power play. Johnstown's Ray Macias capped the period's scoring as he got the home team's 3rd goal of the night, coming on a 5-on-3 man advantage. The Bombers fired 12 shots on Johnstown's Ryan Nie, outshooting the Chiefs 12 to 11.

The 2nd period saw just one goal as Jean Desrochers was able to sneak the puck into the back of the net at the 7:24 mark in the period. Rejean Beauchemin stepped up big throughout period, coming up with several huge saves, as he turned away 14 out of the 15 shots that he faced in the 2nd period, racking up 22 saves through 2 periods.

The Bombers' defense held the Chiefs to only 7 shots in the 3rd period with Beauchemin adding another 6 saves for the period, tallying 28 for the game. The lone goal in the 3rd came on a power play when Alexandre Imbeault earned his 3rd point of the night as he scored for the Chiefs, who got their 5th and final goal of the evening.

While the Dayton Bombers concluded their 2007-2008 campaign with a loss, they can take a measure of satisfaction in having returned to the Kelly Cup Playoffs for the second year in a row - and look ahead to the 2008-2009 season.
