Wildcatters Announce Playoff Roster
April 8, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Texas Wildcatters News Release
Beaumont, TX-The Texas Wildcatters today announced their 23-man roster for the 2008 Kelly Cup playoffs. The list consists of 2 goaltenders, 7 defensemen, and 14 forwards.
Highlighting the roster are recently returned All-ECHL goaltender Anton Khudobin and second-team All-ECHL forward John McNabb.
Khudobin has dominated the ECHL this season, posting a 20-1-1-3 record while setting new club records in goals-against average (1.98) and save percentage (.934) in over 1500 minutes of play. Khudobin posted a 7-0-0-0 regular-season record and 1.75 goals-against average versus the Mississippi Sea Wolves, the Wildcatters first-round opponents in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
McNabb, the veteran Texas Captain, paced the Wildcatters this season with 82 points, posting team highs in goals (32) and assists (50).
Khudobin and McNabb represented the Wildcatters in the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game.
Three places on the list are occupied by players currently recalled to the American Hockey League. They are Jonathan Paiement, recalled to Hershey, and Ross Carlson and John Adams, on loan to Houston.
Scott Champagne will begin the postseason as the only player listed on the injured reserve. The 5-11, 180 lb. rookie forward is currently recovering from a knee injury. He ranked fifth among Wildcatters scorers during the regular season with 16 goals and 31 assists.
Game 1 of the South Division Quarterfinals begins Wednesday at 7:05 in Ford Arena and continues with Game 2 Thursday.
