Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors lost to Elmira 3-2. With the defeat the Road Warriors have dropped two of three against the Jackals this weekend.
Greenville controlled the early stages of the first period but suffered the loss of defenseman Mike Marcou. Marcou was checked against the glass and immediately left for the locker room, he did not return. The very next play, Matt Carter scored to put the Jackals up 1-0. Andrew Rowe broke into the Road Warriors' zone with a drop pass to Chaz Johnson who fed Carter for his fifth of the year.
The Road Warriors tied the game up at one with a power play goal from Marc-Olivier Vallerand in the early stages of the second period. Brendan Connolly gave a pass to Brandon Wong who quickly passed the puck to Vallerand for his 19th of the year. The game would remain tied until the final minutes of the period when Kevin Harvey beat Scott Stajcer short side. A Jackals dump in took an odd hop of the glass and went right to Harvey for his 10th of the year to put Elmira up by a score of 2-1. The Road Warriors would respond before the period expired as Ryan Flanigan found Sean Berkstresser to tie the game at two. Berkstresser was alone in the high slot and drove a wrist shot past the blocker of Ian Keserich for his 12th of the year.
The third period stayed tight until Steven Delisle was whistled for an interference with less than four minutes to play. Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel took the puck end to end, broke out from behind the net and scored on Stajcer's short side. Dieude-Fauvel, the game's first star, scored his third of the year with the power play tally. Andrew Rowe was the game's second star and Ryan Flanigan was the third star of the game. Stajcer was the losing goalie with 26 saves in 29 shots. Keserich improved to 5-1-1 with 34 saves on the night.
