Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - A three-goal first lead to five unanswered goals as the Las Vegas Wranglers won 6-2 over the San Francisco Bulls this afternoon, culminating in a post-game head shaving for players participating in the team's seventh annual St. Baldrick's event.
Six minutes into the first, Wranglers forward Scott Pitt recorded his 11th goal of the season, giving Las Vegas the 1-0 lead. Wranglers defenseman Jamie Fritsch followed it up with a power play goal four minutes later, and another 5-on-4 opportunity in the final minutes of the period saw Wranglers right wing Sean Wiles put the team up 3-0 after the opening 20 minutes. The lone goal of the second was posted by Wranglers center Chris Francis as Las Vegas outshot San Francisco 30-15.
For a 5-0 lead early in the third, Wiles picked up his second goal of the afternoon, who was fed by forward Andrew Sarauer for his fourth assist of the game. The Bulls mounted a 57-second comeback midway through the period, though, as forward Tristan King put San Francisco on the board at the 10:33 mark and forward Simon Danis-Pepin scored at 11:30. The 5-2 score held until the final 58 seconds of play, when Francis collected his second goal of the game to secure the 6-2 win for Las Vegas.
After the game, eight Wranglers players and Head Coach and General Manager Ryan Mougenel took the ice to shave their heads for St. Baldrick's, wrapping up a six-week fundraising event to help raise awareness and funds for the battle against childhood cancers. Over $20,000 was raised before the end of the matinee game, and a final donation number will be announced next week.
The Wranglers begin a seven-game road stretch starting Wednesday, March 6, against the Ontario Reign. The team returns home on Tuesday, March 19, to face the Bakersfield Condors at 7:05 p.m.
This afternoon's full box score can be found here .
