TODAY:
The Ontario Reign (39-14-3-3=84 points) host the Stockton Thunder (30-22-5-4=69 points) for the ninth of eleven meetings this season. The Reign/Thunder series is Ontario's longest in 2012-13.
The Reign are 22-7-2-1 on the road with a current record of 1-0-0-1, the Thunder are 18-7-2-1 at home with a current record of 2-0-0-0.
HOW THEY RANK:
The Reign are first in the Pacific Division, second in the Western Conference, and second in the league with 84 points. They only trail the Alaska Aces who have 90 points. Idaho Steelheads are creeping up for the second spot in the Conference with 81 points. Stockton Thunder comes in at second in the Pacific Division, fourth in the Western Conference, and 10th in the league.
WHEN REGULATION RUNS OUT:
When forced into extra time, the Reign rank third in the league with a 0.625 win rate. In recent games the Reign haven't had the overtime/shootout success they saw at the beginning of the season. During the first three months of the season the Reign earned three overtime wins, three shootout wins, one loss in overtime, and a shootout loss for 14 of 16 possible points. Since 2013 started the Reign have three shootout wins, two overtime losses and two shootout losses for 10 of 14 points. Ontario still ranks number one in shootouts with a 0.480 win rate.
THUNDER POWER:
Stockton is second in the league with 24.6% at-home power play conversion rating and third overall with a 22.2% rating. The Reign continue to struggle scoring with an extra skater and are in the middle of the pack with a 16.5% road power play, and an overall rating of 18.4%.
