Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - Outshooting the Colorado Eagles 42-18, the Las Vegas Wranglers fell 5-3 to the team tonight after jumping out to an early lead.

Only 47 seconds into the game, Wranglers center Sean Wiles scored unassisted to give the team a 1-0 lead. Wranglers forward Andrew Sarauer made it a 2-0 game less than five minutes later, but Colorado was quick to respond, cutting the Vegas lead in half 26 seconds later on a goal from forward Matt Strueby. The Eagles ended the first tied 2-2 with the Wranglers after forward A.J. Hau went shorthanded against goaltender Mitch O'Keefe.

The second period belonged to Colorado as forwards Michael Forney and Kyle Ostrow tallied goals for a 4-2 Eagles advantage. With only 31 seconds off the clock in the third, and four seconds in on an Eagles power play, Ostrow recorded his second goal of the night to put Las Vegas in a three-goal hole. Wranglers left wing Robbie Smith made it 5-3 with 12 minutes left in the third, but the team was unable to knot the game with O'Keefe pulled in the final two minutes of play, leaving Colorado with the 5-3 victory.

The Wranglers wrap up a three-game weekend against the San Francisco Bulls on Sunday, March 3, at 2:05 p.m. After the game, Wranglers players and front office staff will shave their heads on the ice in a fundraising effort for St. Baldrick's.
