MAGNIFYING THE MATCHUP

Tonight the Jackals and Manchester Monarchs will complete the two-game set at First Arena and play their final regular-season meeting. This contest will mark the 11th overall matchup this season and the sixth in Elmira. Last night the Jackals came out with a purpose, pouring three goals in over a span of 1:32 in the first period. Matt Garbowsky started the scoring, followed by Cason Hohmann and rounding out the quick strike parade was Kyle Bushee. Bushee's goal was his 21st as a member of the Jackals, which set a new Jackals all-time ECHL record for goals scored by a defenseman. Tyler Currier added his team-leading 20th goal of the campaign while Shane Owen earned his fifth win in five tries with the Jackals making 47 saves on 49 shots. He now has a 5-0-0 record with a 1.40 goals-against-average and a .954 save percentage since he was acquired from Indy. The previous four season meetings have all occurred at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H. The Jackals recently traveled to Manchester on Sunday and put their six-game winning streak on the line but were thwarted by Michael Houser's 35 stops in a 3-1 defeat. Tyler Currier scored his team-leading 19th goal of the season. Tyler Currier and Allan McPherson lead the Jackals against the Monarchs with seven points.
