(Loveland, CO) -- The Colorado Eagles picked up a valuable point in the standings, but fell to the Utah Grizzlies 2-1 in overtime Saturday at the Budweiser Events Center. The Eagles, their fans and corporate partners also used the night to help raise nearly $50,000 for 10 year-old Megan Hoover of Windsor. Through a jersey auction and the help of donations from fans and sponsors Hoover, who suffers from Alexander's disease, was presented with a brand new Toyota Sienna minivan and a check for more than $16,000 to help adapt the van for her needs.

After 20 minutes of play, goaltending and defense won out, as neither team put points on the board. Colorado held a 17-9 shot advantage in the first period.

The Grizzlies broke up the draw midway through the second when forward Bryan Moore took a shot from the right circle that beat diving Colorado goaltender Kris Lazaruk. The goal gave Utah a 1-0 lead with 8:43 to play in the middle frame.

The Eagles tied it up late in the game when forward Tyler Fiddler scored from in front of the net for his second professional goal and second goal in two nights. Fiddler's tally came with 6:46 to play in the game.

After 60 minutes of play the Eagles and Grizlzies would need extra time to decide the game.

With just 3 seconds left in overtime, Utah forward Ryan Hayes stuck with the puck on top of the crease and scored on Lazaruk to secure the 2-1 win.

The Eagles claimed three out of a possible four points in the two-game set with Utah and are now within three points of the Grizzlies, with a game in hand.

Utah goaltender Ryan Faragher notched 39 saves in the victory, while Lazaruk stopped 26 of Utah's 28 shots on net.

The Eagles head out on the road on Friday, March 25th to take on the Idaho Steelheads. Puck drop is at 7:10 PM MDT. ??
