Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, won three of four games last week (3-1-0-0) to remain in second place in the North Division (+3 on Reading) and enter the week with seven games left in the 2007-08 regular season. With this past weekend's results, the Jackals will face the Reading Royals in the first round of the Kelly Cup playoffs with home ice advantage still to be determined.
Overall: 38-20-3-4 (83 pts.) 2nd North Division/5th American Conference/t-7th Overall Last Week: 3-1-0-0 (6 pts.)
Monday, March 17th - v. WHEELING (5-2 W) Att: 2,895 Shots: 41-16 ELM PP: 1/7 PK: 2/4
The Jackals scored three times in the decisive final period to shake free of the Nailers and pick up their third straight victory. MAXIME BOISCLAIR (3) snapped a 2-2 tie 3:56 into the third period while BOBBY ROBINS (17th goal) and BRETT PILKINGTON (two assists) extended their point streaks to six games each.
Thursday, March 20th - v. DAYTON (5-3 W) Att: 2,766 Shots: 30-30 PP: 1/3 PK: 2/4
A three-goal second period led Elmira to the win and a five-point lead over third place Reading. CHRIS BUSBY bagged the first two-goal game of his ECHL career while PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT scored twice as well in the victory. BENOIT DOUCET's team-leading 28th goal of the year proved to be the game-winner with 4:56 left in the second period.
Friday, March 21st - v. READING (0-2 L) Att: 3,427 Shots: 38-24 ELM PP: 0/4 PK: 3/5
The Jackals had their four-game winning snapped as they were shut out for the first time this season in this North Division playoff preview. Elmira was stymied by Royals netminder JOHN MURRAY who made 38 saves in his professional debut.
Saturday, March 22nd - v. DAYTON (2-1 W) Att: 3,256 Shots: 36-20 ELM PP: 0/4 PK: 5/5
CHAZ JOHNSON scored both goals while BENOIT DOUCET and PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT each recorded two assists as the Jackals clinched no worse than a third place finish in the North Division with their second straight win over the Bombers. JOEL MARTIN stopped 19 shots to pick up his 25th win of the year in net.
This Week: Wednesday, March 26th - v. TRENTON 7:05 p.m. First Arena
The most frequent opponent on the schedule this season (12 games), the Devils and Jackals meet three times in the final seven games in the regular season. The clubs enter this mid-week tilt with the Jackals already having won the season series with seven wins in nine tries. Trenton enters the week seven points out of the final playoff spot in the North Division and only six games left make up that deficit.

The Jackals and division champion Cyclones hook up for the final time in the regular season. Elmira is 3-4-0-2 versus Cincinnati this year and 1-1-0-2 at U.S. Bank Arena. The Cyclones wrapped up the North Division title with a 3-2 home ice win over Johnstown March 17th.

Jackals Bites: - The Jackals had their four-game winning streak stopped in Friday's 2-0 home loss to Reading...The shutout was the first one suffered by Elmira this season after pitching three of their own...After scoring the game's first goal in 13 consecutive contests, the Jackals have now surrendered opening goals in three straight contests...The Jackals picked up just their eighth win of the season when trailing after one period this season (8-11-0-0) Saturday...Elmira notched its 13th Saturday victory, the club's most productive night of the week (13-5-0-1) I 2007-08...In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week BOBBY ROBINS had his season-high six-game point streak end in Thursday's 5-3 win over Dayton...BRETT PILKINGTON's seven-game assist/point streak was halted Friday night in the shutout loss to Reading...ERVINS MUSTUKOVS picked up his fifth straight win Thursday night over Dayton...The line of CHAZ JOHNSON (two goals), BENOIT DOUCET (two assists) and PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT (two assists) accounted for the Jackals points in Saturday's 2-1 win over Dayton.
