Lose', Walker Return, Speedy Lewis Added To Roster

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning of the arenafootball2 league announced OL David Lose', LB Carl Walker and WR/DB Thyron Lewis has been assigned to the Lightning by the af2 league office. Per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

SACRAMENTO NATIVE LOSE' RETURNS FOR THIRD SEASON

Contributing primarily on an offensive line while chipping in with the "little things" that rarely appear on a score sheet, Lose' returns to the Lightning for his third season with the Lightning. Last year, Lose' anchored an offensive line that helped the Lightning rank 12th in scoring offense (51.9 ppg), sixth in pass offense (265.9 yards per game) and eighth in total offense (4,527 yards). In his 2006 af2 rookie year, Lose' helped protect QB Josh Blankenship, who threw for 4,052 yards and 82 touchdowns.

Prior to making his af2 debut in 2004 with the Bakersfield Blitz, the Sacramento, California native attended school and played college football at Oregon State University (NCAA), where he was a letterwinner for Oregon State's 2000 Fiesta Bowl championship team, and earned three letters (2000, 02-03) for a program that went a combined 27-11 and made three bowl game appearances in those three years.

Lose attended and played football at Luther Burbank High School in Sacramento, California, where he was a first-team All-Metro League pick and was named best defensive tackle in the Metro League as a senior.

EX-MIAMI HURRICANE WALKER RETURNS TO THE BOX

Walker, 25, returns for his second season with the Lightning after garnering an All-af2 selection as a rookie. A product of national football power University of Miami (NCAA), Walker ranked third on the Lightning with 55 tackles and tied for third on the team with eight pass breakups, primarily serving the team in the "jack" linebacker position. Walker's best output came against Spokane on April 28 as the Florida native tallied a team-high tying seven take-downs with DB Travis Seaton.

Walker was a part of the 2001 National Championship squad with Miami that overpowered Nebraska in the 2002 Rose Bowl Game. Despite a battle with injuries throughout his four-year tenure, Walker managed to work his way into 30 games with the Hurricanes, garnering 16 tackles as a linebacker along with two forced fumbles.

His career-best numbers came as a 2000 freshman while playing for head coach Larry Coker, where he appeared in nine games while recording six tackles and two forced fumbles, helping guide the Hurricanes to a Nokia Sugar Bowl title.

A decorated athlete from Jackson (Fla.) High School, the 6-foot-3 208-pound native of Jacksonville, Florida was garnered a second-team USA Today All-American honors, and was a Parade All-American and SuperPrep All-American. Walker was listed as the seventh-ranked defense back in PrepStar's 1999 Top-100 Dream Team. In his senior year, Walker recorded a whopping 123 tackles, blocked seven punts and forced four fumbles. As a special teams performer, Walker blocked 12 kicks in his high school career.

THYRON LEWIS ADDS DEPTH TO RECEIVING CORPS

Lewis enters his first season as an af2 pro after a splitting his college football career at University of Howard (NCAA) and Los Angeles (Calif.) Harbor Junior College, tallying six career touchdowns with Howard and registering career-high numbers in receptions (19) and receiving yards (295) as a 2005 senior with the Bison.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound receiver ranked among the state of California's receiving leaders in 2002 at L.A. Harbor JC, tallying four touchdown catches, 27 catches and 361 receiving yards in just six games while garnering second team All-Western State Conference honors.

Currently underway with training camp for their third season in Stockton, the Lightning start the 2008 campaign beginning March 28, taking the road against the Tri-Cities Fever. The 2008 Lightning home opener is Saturday, April 12 against the Boise Burn, beginning at 7:00 p.m. from Stockton Arena.
