Fresno Falcons News Release

LAST WEEK: Fresno went 3-1-0 last week, picking up two road wins in Phoenix, and splitting a home series with Bakersfield. The Falcons are 39-18-8 on the season for 86 points, and remain in second place in the Pacific Division. Fresno's magic number for clinching the third seed in the National Conference playoff seeding is eight points.

Tuesday, March 18 @ Phoenix FALCONS 2 RoadRunners 1 (SO)

Matt Quinn opened the scoring, giving Fresno a 1-0 lead 9:16 into the first period. Phoenix pulled even on a Ryan Walsh tally at 4:21 of the second period. The game remained tied through the rest of regulation and overtime, sending the game to a shootout. Josh Prudden scored on Fresno's first shot, and that was more than enough as Jake Moreland stopped all five RoadRunners' shots to give Fresno the win.

Thursday, March 20 @ Phoenix FALCONS 2 RoadRunners 0

Kris Mayotte stopped all 32 Phoenix shots to pick up his first professional shutout in a 2-0 win on Thursday. Mike Ramsay scored the only goal the Falcons needed 6:39 into the opening period, and Spencer Carbery provided some breathing room at the 18:41 mark of the second period. Mayotte turned aside a Peder Skinner penalty shot midway through the third period to preserve the shutout.

Friday, March 21 vs. Bakersfield FALCONS 4 Condors 1

Fresno returned home, and kept up its winning ways with a 4-1 win over Bakersfield on Friday. Josh Prudden opened the scoring with a power-play goal 11:41 into the first period, but Bakersfield came right back to tie it on a Chris Di Ubaldo goal just 17 seconds later. Kenny Bernard gave the Falcons a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes, scoring his 11th goal of the season at 16:53. After a scoreless second period, Brady Leisenring extended the Falcons lead to two 7:29 into the third period, and Bernard iced the game with a shorthanded empty-net goal at 17:37.
