Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Peoria Rivermen, Alaska's American Hockey League affiliate, has assigned winger Cam Keith to the Aces, who also signed former UAA forward Merit Waldrop and activated goaltender Mike Brown.

The 27-year-old Keith scored five goals and assisted on 12 others in 29 games with Alaska earlier this season, including the game-winner in a December 29 victory over Utah. His last game with the Aces prior to being re-called by Peoria came a week later against Phoenix. In 26 games with the Rivermen this year, Keith has scored twice and handed out three assists. He signed a two-year deal with Peoria in the summer of 2006 after helping Alaska win the Kelly Cup with six goals and six assists in 17 postseason games, including the dramatic game-winner in triple overtime against Las Vegas in that year's West Division Finals.

Waldrop, a 24-year-old rookie from Anchorage who just completed his eligibility at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, also plays primarily on the wing, where he had 12 points (6g-6a) in 35 games as a senior this season. Waldrop's career totals over 138 collegiate games include 23 goals and 30 assists, highlighted by a 19-point campaign (5g-14a) in 2006-07.

Brown, 8-2 with a 2.62 GAA and a .916 save percentage since joining Alaska January 31, replaces Derek Gustafson in the lineup for this week's series against Phoenix. The Aces enter that series trailing Victoria and Idaho by two points in the race for their fourth straight West Division title. Alaska has six games left on its regular season schedule, while the Salmon Kings have seven and the Steelheads four.

The Aces (38-23-5) practice tomorrow and open the three-game series against the Roadrunners Wednesday night at 7:15 p.m. ADT in Sullivan Arena. Friday and Saturday's contests also begin at 7:15 p.m. All three games will be broadcast live on AM 750 KFQD, with coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off. Alaska finishes the regular season with three games at Victoria, beginning April 2, that could decide the West title.
