ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, completed a four-game home stand with a pair of wins over Wheeling to head into the All-Star break on a three-game winning streak. The North Division lead sits in Elmira's hands with 39 games played in the 2007-08 season

The Nailers proved to be no match for the Jackals after the home club raced out to a 3-0 first period lead on their way to season-high offensive output. FRANK LITTLEJOHN and PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT scored two goals each to lead the way and were two of six players with multi-point efforts. JOEL MARTIN stopped 22 shots in goal to pick up his league-leading 21st win of the year.

The rematch remained close until the Jackals scored twice in a 3:43 span in the second period to break open a one-goal game and stretch their lead to 4-1. PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT and TREVOR HENDRIKX each picked up a goal and three assists to establish personal bests for points in an ECHL game and tie the club mark (achieved three times previously). CHAZ JOHNSON remained red hot in extending his goal and point streaks to five and nine games respectively. In his nine contests, JOHNSON has 10 goals and four assists. DAN LaCOSTA returned between the pipes in his first start since 11/27 and secured his sixth straight win with a 27-save effort.

The Jackals and Devils meet for the sixth time this year with the hosts still looking for their first victory. The last three meetings have been one-goal affairs with two going to a shootout, including the most recent meeting 12/28 (4-3 in Trenton).

Jackals Bites: Three-game home winning streak and have won 10 of their last 12 at First Arena...Saturday's sellout was the club's ninth this season as the Jackals have played before 95.3% capacity this year...The Jackals have scored 6 or more goals in a game five

times this year and in four of those contests, the club did it rather economically on 29 or less shots...Last weekend's 15 goal outburst against Wheeling was the largest back-to-back offensive output of the year for the Jackals...CHAZ JOHNSON scored a point in his ninth

consecutive game Saturday to establish a new club mark (The previous mark was held by his linemates PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT and BENOIT DOUCET)...JOHNSON looks to tie DOUCET's goal scoring streak (six games) Friday in Trenton...G JOEL MARTIN watched from the bench for the first time in a back-up capacity for the first time since November 27th, a string of 19 consecutive starts that ended Saturday...G DAN LaCOSTA got the call Saturday and made 27 stops in picking up his sixth straight victory, a run that began 11/17 with a 4-1 win in Texas and was interrupted by a month and a half stay on the Injured Reserve with a severely sprained ankle from the team's

November 29th bus accident...LUKE FULGHUM's fourth shorthanded goal of the season put him back in a tie for the league lead in that

department while FAUBERT has ascended to the top of the ECHL with a +25, thanks in part to a total of +6 in two weekend wins...The line of JOHNSON, FAUBERT, and DOUCET combined for 14 points (5+9) in two games...FAUBERT and D TREVOR HENDRIKX posted team record-tying four points performances in Saturday's 7-1 win, both doing so with a goal and three assists and finishing the game at +3. WETM-2 will televise 11 Friday night contests live from First Arena with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. each night. The team's weekly Coach's Show airs Mondays throughout the season from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. on NewsTalk 1230/1450 live from O'Ryans Sports Bar & Grill, 159 Prescott Avenue - Elmira Heights. The show is also available on-line via www.jackalshockey.com. The show will not air this week due to the ECHL All-Star Game. The next edition of the Coach's Show will air Monday, January 28th.

Chase Chevrolet 2008 ECHL All-Star Game: The Elmira Jackals radio partner, Route 81 Radio, will provide live broadcast coverage of this year's ECHL All-Star Game from Stockton, California, Wednesday night on MAGIC FM (92.7/97.7). Broadcast coverage will begin with the pre-game show at 9:45 p.m. with the puck drop set for 10:05 p.m. at Stockton Arena. Selected by the ECHL, the broadcast team will be comprised of Mike Benton (Stockton Thunder), Brendan Burke (Wheeling Nailers) and Leif Skodnik (Mississippi Sea Wolves).
