This Week:

1/25 at Dayton, 1/26 vs. Dayton (1-2-0-1):

The Chiefs will have 624 miles of travel ahead of them with a home-and-home pair of games with the Dayton Bombers to begin the weekend. The Chiefs have not beaten the Bombers in Ohio this season, suffering a 5-3 loss at the Nutter Center in November, and an 8-3 loss at Hobart Arena in December. Momentum should be on Johnstown's side, though, thanks to a 5-1 victory over the Bombers in their last match-up at the War Memorial on January 18.

1/27 vs. Reading (1-2-1-0):

The Chiefs and Royals have become very familiar with each other in January after not facing off a single time in December. Sunday's contest will be the third in three weeks between the bitter Pennsylvania rivals. After failing to beat the Royals in their first two attempts, the Chiefs are 1-0-1 against Reading in 2008, scoring nine goals in those two games.

Last Week:

1/18 vs. Dayton: W 5-1

The Chiefs matched their season-best three-game winning streak by beating Dayton for the first time in the 2007-08 season. Jean Desrochers turned in a huge performance for the Black and Gold, scoring two goals for the second-straight game. The Chiefs never trailed in the game as Desrochers got the Chiefs on the board just 59 seconds in. Grant Goeckner-Zoeller tied the game 49 seconds later, but the Chiefs rattled off four unanswered goals by Mike Knight, Desrochers, Brian Deeth, and Tyler Hirsch. The Chiefs' defense played outstanding, as well, keeping the third and fourth highest scorers in the ECHL, Yannick Tifu and Matt Beaudoin, off of the scoresheet.

1/19 at Reading: L 5-4 OT

With a 4-1 lead, and a 27-9 shot advantage, the Chiefs looked to be well on their way to a fourth-consecutive win Saturday night in Reading. But consecutive penalties by Vincent Zaore and Mike Knight allowed the Royals to take some momentum back. Reading's P.J. Atherton scored with Knight in the box for tripping to begin the comeback. Goals by Marc Cavosie and Rob LaLonde would force the extra frame, and with Knight serving a double minor for high-sticking Cavosie sent in the winner. It was the first loss the Chiefs sustained in overtime this season.

1/20 at Trenton: W 6-4

Trenton was a team struggling to find offense all season, but they scored five on Dayton the night before, and came out with guns blazing against the Chiefs. The game featured four lead changes, three different tie-scores, and nine goals in the first two periods. Randy Rowe picked up a hat trick, his first of the year and second for the team, and Nic Bachand provided the eventual game winner at 16:49 of the second period. Mike Sgroi provided the insurance marker with an empty-netter at 19:39 of the third for his second goal in a Johnstown uniform.

Showin' Off the Skills:

Last week, it was announced that Johnstown's 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game representative, Ryan Garlock, was chosen to participate in two events at the skills competition on Tuesday, January 22 and 7:05 p.m. PT. Garlock, representing the American Conference, will compete in the fastest skater competition and the breakaway relay. For the first time in its 11-year history the event will be broadcast live online free of charge through the ECHL web site by B2 Networks. A second-year pro from Iroquois Falls, Ontario, Garlock was chosen to replace Alexandre Imbeault who is currently with Providence in the AHL.
