TEXAS 2 - Inferno 1 (SO)

Jeremy Hall scored a shorthanded goal at 19:03 of the second period to tie the game at one. Jeff Jakaitis stopped 32 of 33 shots on goal. Texas outshot the Inferno 34-21. The game ended after a eight man shootout with the Wildcatters taking the win. The Inferno did earn a point in the South Division standings.

Saturday, Jan. 19

INFERNO 2 - Texas 1 (OT)

In another goalie battle between Jeff Jakaitis and Anton Khudobin, Owen Fussey netted his 10th goal of the season to give the Inferno the only goal in regulation. Brad Ralph scored the game winning goal 1:11 into the overtime period on the power play. Texas outshot the Inferno 36-26 and Columbia went 1-for-5 on the power play.

This is the fourth of nine games this season. The Gladiators are currently in fourth place in the South Division with 48 points (22-11-2-2). Gwinnett leads the series 3-0 this year.

The Inferno are 3-3-1-1 against the Checkers this season. The is the ninth of 10 games this year between the Checkers and Inferno. Charlotte is currently in eighth place in the South Division with 36 points (16-16-0-4).

PINK IN THE RINK

Inferno vs. Mississippi Sea Wolves, 7:05pm

The Inferno will host the 2nd Annual Pink in the Rink to benefit the Palmetto Health Foundation for Breast Cancer Research on Friday, February 15. Starting on Saturday, January 12, there will be a raffle set up at customer service for you to purchase raffle tickets to have the opportunity to win one of six pink jerseys. The remaining jerseys will be auctioned off immediately after the game on February 15. Ticket packages are available by calling 256-7825.

HOTTER THAN BLAZES:

Columbia is ranked first in penalty killing in the ECHL...Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis has started the last 11 games earning a 5-3-0-3 record, including one shutout...Jeff Miles has five points (2g-3a) in his last five games...Brad Ralph had the game winning goal in a 2-1 win over Texas and one assist...Rookie forward Tyler Doig will appear in the ECHL All-Star game this week to represent the Columbia Inferno
