Jackals Announce Roster Additions

January 25, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals announced on Wednesday that they have re-signed defenseman Jarrett Rush to a standard player contract and have added Nick Niedert to their roster as an emergency backup goaltender.

Rush, a second-year pro, has one assist and is +4 in nine games with Elmira in 2011-2012, having initially been signed by the Jackals on Dec. 28. A native of Pennington, N.J., Rush has collected 28 points (1g-27a) in 71 games beginning in 2010 with the FHL's New York/Brooklyn Aviators. He skated four seasons collegiately, playing one year at Manhattanville College and three at Curry College, both NCAA D-III schools, from 2006-2010.

Niedert, an eighth-year pro, has won both of his starts with the Jackals this season, defeating the Wheeling Nailers on Dec. 21 and 26. With Elmira in 2011-2012, Niedert is 2-0-0-0 with a .904 save percentage and a 2.07 goals-against average. Niedert most recently skated with the SPHL's Knoxville Ice Bears after commencing the campaign with the FHL's Danbury Whalers.

The Jackals finish out their four-game road trip this week in Gwinnett and South Carolina before returning home to host Wheeling on Feb. 1 and Chicago on Feb. 4 at First Arena. To reserve your seats call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), visit the First Arena Box Office, or log onto JackalsHockey.com.
