Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Amarillo, Texas - The Amarillo Gorillas had their brief two-game win streak brought to an end on Saturday night by the Odessa Jackalopes, who spoiled the Gorillas New Year's Eve game, taking a 6-3 decision. Amarillo has now lost three games in a row to the Jackalopes, and is 1-4-0 against them on the season.

Amarillo would get goals in the first period from Matt Miller and Chris Lipsett, Miller's goal making it a 1-0 Amarillo lead, and Lipsett's giving the Gorillas a 2-1 lead after Dominic Leveille scored for Odessa. The Jackalopes would tie it up before the end of the first, as Mike Rutter scored with just :45 left in the period to make it 2-2.

In the second, Odessa's John Kozoriz and Colin Circelli would score to give Odessa a 4-2 lead, but Chris Martini's second goal in as many nights brought the Gorillas to within 4-3 before the period ended.

That would be as close as Amarillo would get however, as Odessa's Jocelyn Dubord would score at 15:44 to put the Jacks up 5-3, and Brian Swiniarski would add an empty netter as the Gorillas comeback efforts came up short.

The Gorillas will head to Broomfield, Colorado for a game against the Rocky Mountain Rage on Thursday night, before returning home to take on the Jacks again on Friday and then the Arizona Sundogs on Saturday night.
