Three RiverKings make All-Star Team

Three Mississippi RiverKings have made the Northern Conference All-Star Team that will take on the Southern Conference All-Star Team in the 2008 CHL All-Star Game at Broomfield Event Center on Jan. 16.

RiverKings defenseman Derek Landmesser, forward Aaron Davis, and goalie Sebastien Centomo have all made the club that Rocky Mountain Rage Head Coach Tracy Egeland will manage in just a couple weeks.

This game will mark Landmesser's sixth consecutive all-star appearance, and no player in this year's game will have more all-star games under his belt. In the previous five games, the RiverKings captain has scored one goal and assisted on five others. The 31-year-old Landmesser has started an all-star game four times. He has put together another good season with four goals and 16 assists in 27 games. Landmesser's 11 power play assists rank him in the CHL's top 15. In 437 RiverKings regular season and playoff games, he has registered 424 points. The CHL named Landmesser its Most Outstanding Defenseman in 2001, and named him to its All CHL Team in each of the last three seasons. His 389 regular season points rank him third in franchise history, and his 319 regular season assists put him at the top. Landmesser only needs 44 more penalty minutes to tie Dan Brown's all-time RiverKings record.

Centomo has never played in an all-star game. In his second go-round with the RiverKings this year, the 2002 CHL Rookie of the Year has a 12-6-1 record with a 2.28 goals against average, a .920 save percentage, and three shutouts. The league named the 26-year-old Centomo the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week on Nov. 12 following his 29-save performance in a 5-2 win in Tulsa against the Oilers on Nov. 6 and his 36-save 3-0 shutout of the Oklahoma City Blazers on Nov. 10. In 39 total RiverKings games, Centomo has a 28-7-1 record with a 2.19 GAA, a .927 save percentage,

Like Centomo, Davis will play in his first all-star game this year. The 28-year-old has certainly made a splash In his first season in Southaven, scoring 14 goals and assisting on 14 others in 27 games. Davis recorded his first pro hat trick on Dec. 8 against the Youngstown SteelHounds and tied a career-high with four points in one game. In 286 professional regular season games, he has amassed 212 points.

The Rage will host the All-Star Banquet on Jan. 15 and the 2008 CHL All-Star Game on Jan. 16. Fans can buy tickets to both events at Broomfield Event Center by visiting Ticketmaster on the World Wide Web at ticketmaster.com.
