Oakley CHL Player/Goaltender of the Week Announced

The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending December 30th, 2007 are right wing Joe Blaznek of the Corpus Christi Rayz and goaltender Sean Connors of the Oklahoma City Blazers.
Blaznek had seven points (three goals, four assists) in two games this past week, both Rayz victories. He had a season-high three points (1-2=3) on Friday in Corpus Christi's 6-3 win at Rio Grande Valley and then broke that with a four-point night on Saturday in the Rayz 5-4 shootout win at Rio Grande Valley. In the shootout victory, the Detroit, Michigan native scored the game winner in the shootout and for the week, Blaznek had a hand in seven of the Rayz 11 goals scored. For the season, Blaznek leads the Rayz with 29 points and has scored in 13 of his last 14 games. The resurgent Rayz have points in each of their last four games (3-0-1) and are 7-3-2 in the month of December.
Connors has rebounded from a slow start by going 4-2-1 in his last seven decisions. Last week, the Okotoks, Alberta native went 2-0 defeating Tulsa on Christmas Day and later in the week defeating the Rocky Mountain Rage, the CHL's top team, 6-2 in Broomfield, Colorado. Connors turned away 62 of 67 shots (.925 save percentage) and improved his season record to 5-7-1.
In recognition of their achievements, both Blaznek and Connors will receive a special gift from Oakley.
