D-Man Butler Named to Northern Conference All-Star Team

December 31, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - Rocky Mountain Rage assistant captain Tyler Butler was named one of 12 reserves that will skate for the Northern Conference All-Star Team in the CHL All-Star Game at Broomfield Event Center on Jan. 16. The Northern Conference starters were announced on Friday, and yesterday, the rest of the squad was unveiled as determined by Rage head coach Tracy Egeland, the North's head coach, and the CHL's hockey operations department.

Butler, whose teammates Brent Cullaton and Scott Wray will both be in the starting line-up for the Northern Conference, is currently the second leading scorer among CHL defensemen with 30 points (9g-21a). The fifth-year pro also owns the league's second longest point-scoring streak this season, a 16-game run during which he totaled 24 points (8g-16a) from Nov. 9 - Dec. 22. This will be Butler's second appearance in a CHL All-Star Game. He was also tabbed to represent the Southern Conference in 2004-05 as a member of the Amarillo Gorillas.

"Tyler's kind of flown under the radar since he's been out of the league for the past couple of seasons," said Egeland. "But he was a big part of two teams that reached the Southern Conference Finals in Amarillo, and he's had as much to do with our success in the first half as anyone else on our team this year."
