Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - On the eve of a new year, the Brahmas and their newest addition to the roster, goaltender Brett Jaeger were unable to make their own fireworks at the NYTEX Sports Centre as they were defeated by the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 2-1.

The Mudbugs struck first in the opening period as left wing Joe Ori scored his eleventh of the season from Tyrel Lucas. The first ended with the Brahmas outshooting the Mudbugs 10-7.

Texas' feisty forward Tyler Skworchinski was not going to let the Mudbugs ruin his New Year's Eve when he put the puck past Bossier's goaltender John DeCaro at the 11:44 mark. Chris Thompson and Robin Big Snake assisted on the goal. The Brahmas were unable to convert on three powerplay opportunities in the second.

The final period for the Brahmas in 2007 was an intense nail-biter. The Mudbugs went on top 2-1 with a screaming slapshot from Mudbug Tyrel Lucas. The Mudbugs gave the Brahmas plenty of chances in the game, but the home team was unable to capitalize, losing 2-1.

The Brahmas will hit the road to face Wichita Friday evening for a 7:05 PM start. On Saturday, Texas will match up against the Oklahoma City Blazers for the first time this season at 7:35 PM. Both games can be seen on CHL Network. Texas' next home game is Friday, January 11 against Tulsa.
