Bucks Look Close Out 2007 With Fifth Straight Win

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League look to win their fifth straight game tonight when they take on division rival Rio Grande Valley in the sixth annual New Year's Eve game. Game time is 7:30pm.

The Bucks come into tonight's game winners of four games in a row, and six of their last seven.

Laredo swept two games from the Arizona Sundogs over the weekend in the desert, winning two one-goal games. Laredo won 2-1 Friday night, and came from behind to win in a shootout 6-5 on Saturday night.

In Saturday night's win the Bucks trailed by two-goals twice in the game, 2-0, and 5-3. Rane Carnegie picked up the game-winning goal in the shootout. Carnegie has scored in all three shootouts this season.

The Bucks scored four power-play goals, their most in a game this season. Jeff Bes and Adam Rivet each scored two power-play goals.

Dustin Traylen picked up the win in net, replacing Kevin Beech midway through the second period with the Bucks trailing 4-3. Traylen stopped nine of 10 shots, and three of four Sundogs shootout attempts.

Bes has jumped to second in the CHL scoring race with 44 points (18-26=44).

Rio Grande Valley comes into tonight having lost seven games in a row, and 11 of their last 12, falling to sixth in the Southern Conference playoff race. The top five teams make the postseason this year.

In their current skid the Killer Bees have lost games by scores of 10-3, 10-6, and 8-1.

Rio lost to Corpus Christi over the weekend 6-3, and 5-4 in a shootout. In Saturday's loss the Bees held a 4-2 lead going into the third period. Josh Bonar and Rob Voltera each picked up two goals in the loss.

Voltera 11-15=26) and Dennis Maxwell (8-18=26) lead the Bees in scoring, each notching 26 points.

The Bucks have won all five meetings with the Bees this season. The two teams will square off again Friday night at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo.

The first 1,500 fans to enter the building tonight will receive glow in the dark thunder stix.

Family four pack tickets are available for $48. The family four pack consists of four tickets, four hot dogs, and four sodas.

After the game the Bucks will host their sixth annual fire works specatular outside of the LEC. There will be a live band and lots of entertainment.

*Bucks Notes*

The Bucks are 4-1 all-time on New Year's Eve, losing in their first season 4-3 to Austin. Laredo has is 3-0 record on New Year's Eve against Rio, including a 4-2 triumph last season.
