Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

It took 12 innings but the Isotopes (21-24) were able to put an end to their six-game losing streak, defeating the Omaha Storm Chasers 4-2 on Monday night.

After Omaha jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, Isotopes infielder Tim Smalling tied the game in the top of the second on an RBI single, driving home Jordan Patterson.

Catcher Tom Murphy's third triple of the season gave the Isotopes a 2-1 lead in the third, knocking home teammate Ben Paulsen. The advantage for Albuquerque would last until the Storm Chasers evened the contest in the sixth inning.

Isotopes starter Shane Carle exited the game after 6.0 strong innings on the hill, allowing just two runs on eight hits, striking out two while walking one. The outing marked Carle's fourth quality start of the year.

Relievers Scott Oberg and Jason Motte each recorded a scoreless inning in relief of Carle. Jason Gurka tossed a scoreless ninth inning before running into trouble in the 10th. After loading the bases with nobody out, the southpaw was able to strike out three consecutive Storm Chasers to move the ball game to the 11th inning.

Right-hander Austin House came on for the Isotopes in the 11th inning, stranding a runner at third base to keep the game locked in at 2-2.

After being kept off the scoreboard for eight innings, the Isotopes broke through in the top of the 12th, plating two runs. Outfielders Mike Tauchman and Brandon Barnes each knocked in a run in the top of the frame to give their club a 4-2 lead.

House would then blank the Storm Chasers in the bottom half of the inning to secure the victory for the Isotopes and put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Albuquerque looks to make it two wins in a row tomorrow when the two clubs are back in action. Left-hander Ryan Carpenter (2-2, 5.49) will take the hill for the Isotopes and will be opposed by Omaha's Miguel Amonte (3-3, 4.67). First pitch from Werner Park is set for 5:35 p.m.
