Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
A large storm cell that hovered over Isotopes Park forced Monday's game between the Albuquerque Isotopes (63-64) and New Orleans Zephyrs (61-67) to be postponed. The contest will be made up on Tuesday as part of a doubleheader consisting to two, seven-inning games beginning at 4:05 PM.
Several small thunderstorms appeared over the Isotopes Park area around 5:00 PM. Although rain didn't begin to fall until about 8:20 PM, several thunderstorms floated around the ballpark causing a significant amount of thunder and lightening, which inevitably pushed back the original first pitch time of 6:35 PM. The game was called at 8:22 PM after a 1 hour, 57 minute weather delay.
The contest will be made up as part of a twin-bill consisting of two, seven-inning games beginning at 4:05 PM. The second game will begin a half hour after the first one concludes. Gales at Isotopes Park will open at 3:00 PM.
Tickets for Monday's game can be exchanged exclusively at the Isotopes Park Box Office for a ticket of equal or lesser value to any remaining Isotopes regular season home game.
Game one of the double-header will feature the scheduled pitching match-up of Monday's washed out contest, as right-hander John Ely (4-3, 5.98) will make the start for the 'Topes against Z's righty Tom Mastny (4-4, 4.41). Isotopes righty Seth Etherton (5-5, 4.44) will start the night-cap against Zephyrs right-hander, and former 'Tope, Nic Ungs (1-1, 4.58).
Albuquerque continues its monster homestand, featuring 14 games in 13 days, on Tuesday with an Adult Fun Run after the twin-bill. On Wednesday, the first 5,000 fans will get an Outback Scratch Ticket that will give them a chance to win a slew of great prizes from Outback Steakhouse. Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
