
PCL Playoff Race Heats up as Highly Anticipated 5-Game Series Unfolds

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif., August 23, 2010 - After a tremendous run to catch the Fresno Grizzlies (Triple-A Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants) in the Pacific Coast League (PCL) South Division Standings, the River Cats will host a five-game series in what could be the most anticipated series in franchise history. The outcome from the August 25-29 series between the Comeback Cats and Grizzlies will have a significant impact on the 2010 PCL South Division Crown. Fans should expect some thrilling and intense games during the River Cats final regular season homestand at Raley Field.
Along with the excitement of the Highway 99 Showdown, several promotions will take place during the homestand including:
"Free Money" Sweepstakes - Wednesday, August 25 at 7:05 p.m. Fans entering the ballpark will receive an envelope with varying amounts of Cat Cash (redeemable within the Raley Field venue) or certificates redeemable for cash. As part of the Sweepstakes, five lucky participants will receive a "Golden Ticket," and will be invited onto the field for a chance to win the Grand Prize of $1,000!
Parrot Head Night - Thursday, August 26 at 7:05 p.m. Jimmy Buffet fans throughout the area will enjoy Parrot Head themed festivities during the game. Thursday also marks the recurring promotion of Thirsty Thursdays at Raley Field featuring $2 Miller and Miller Lite beers.
Team Spirit Night - Friday, August 27 at 7:05 p.m. Fans should come out and show their team spirit! The first 2,500 fans entering Raley Field will receive a River Cats-themed Car Sunshade presented by Esurance. Additionally, fans will enjoy River Cats pregame player autographs and Toyota Family Value Fridays with $1 hot dogs and $1 desserts.
River Cats Team Meet & Greet and Player Awards - Saturday, August 28 at 7:05 p.m. - Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the River Cats on field prior to the start of the game between 6:00-6:30 p.m. Also, the 2010 River Cats Player Awards will be announced. The evening with be topped off with postgame Sutter Health Fireworks. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. to accommodate the large crowd.
BirdZerk! - Sunday, August 29 at 1:05 p.m. Fans will experience the antics of BirdZerk!, a group of inflatable and zany entertainers, throughout the game which will provide laughs for all. In addition, as part of U.S. Bank Kids Sunday, River Cats players will be signing autographs pregame and children can run the bases postgame.
