Nashville Sounds News Release

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds return home to Greer Stadium on Wednesday to open their final homestand of the season, a five-game set against the visiting New Orleans Zephyrs (Florida Marlins affiliate).

Highlighting the week's worth of promotions will be an Adult T-Shirt Giveaway, Taco Bell Throwback Thursday, Postgame Fireworks, and Fan Appreciation Day!

The Sounds currently lead 5-2 in the season series with the Zephyrs, and will look to increase its lead in Wednesday evening's 7:05 p.m. homestand opener. Gates open at 5:35 p.m.

The Sounds will be wearing retro 1980s-style uniforms for the last Taco Bell Throwback Thursday of the year, as fans have the opportunity to enjoy concession stands filled with discounted pricing, such as $2 beer, $2 soft drinks, $2 hot dogs, $2 popcorn, and $2 nachos. College students also receive a $5 General Admission ticket with a college ID. Beer sales will conclude at the end of the 6th inning, while Slugger's will sell until the end of game. First pitch is 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 5:35 p.m.

For Friday's 7:05 p.m. game against the Zephrys, the first 2,000 adults through the turnstiles will receive a premium adult Sounds T-Shirt, sponsored by Vanderbilt Sports Medicine.

Adding to the excitement of the homestand, Saturday's 6:35 p.m. contest with the Zephyrs will end with a bang, as postgame fireworks light up the sky following the action on the field. Gates open at 5:05 p.m.

Saturday evening will include a special guest at Greer Stadium. Minor League Baseball President Pat O'Conner will attend the game and present a check to the Sounds as part of Minor League Baseball's contribution to the team's "Play Ball!" flood relief project.

Sunday evening's 6:35 p.m. contest will be the last home game of the regular season, as the Sounds celebrate Fan Appreciation Night. This special evening, dedicated to the fans, consists of many between-inning giveaways, free Fun Zone games for children, $1 hot dogs and sundaes, and autographs from the players at the gates and on the field. In addition, the 2010 Sounds Team MVP and Sounds Fan Favorite will be recognized in an on-field ceremony prior to the game.

Sunday evening also marks the final Purity Faith Night of the season. Christian recording artist SONICFLOOd will play a concert on the plaza stage near the first-base entrance at Greer Stadium, beginning at 5:05 pm.

During Sunday night's game, Jess Neely Athletics and Lighthouse Christian School will be recognized as part of the Nashville Sounds "Play Ball!" project, helping Middle Tennessee youth baseball organizations recover from major flood damage.

The Sounds will be wearing retro 1980s-style uniforms for the last time in 2010, while fans are offered the rare opportunity to win a player's jersey right off his back following the game. Fans will be able to participate in a silent auction for their favorite player's throwback jersey from the time the gates open at 5:05 p.m. until the end of the sixth inning. All proceeds benefit the Nashville Sounds Foundation.
