Islanders Recall Pelech

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Nov. 9, 2015) - The New York Islanders have recalled defenseman Adam Pelech from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. The transaction marks the first National Hockey League call up of Pelech's career.

Pelech, 21, has four points (two goals, two assists) with a team-high plus-9 rating through 14 games with the Sound Tigers this season. Both of his goals were scored shorthanded.

The Islanders selected Pelech in the third round (65th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft. He recorded 11 assists in 65 AHL games last season as a rookie with the Sound Tigers.

Pelech played four seasons of junior hockey with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League, totaling 129 points (21 goals, 108 assists) in 228 games. He netted career highs in goals (10), assists (45), points (55) and plus-minus rating (+52) in his final season in 2013-14.

On the international stage, Pelech represented Canada at the 2014 World Junior Championships and the 2012 World Under-18 Junior Championships, winning bronze in 2012.
