Hartford Wolf Pack News Release


The Wolf Pack (6-6-1-0, 13 pts., .500 pts. percentage) endured a frustrating week this past week, suffering three shutouts-against. Toronto Marlies goaltender Garret Sparks stopped 30 Wolf Pack shots Wednesday at the XL Center, in the Pack's "Sonar's Edu-skate" school-day game, and the Marlies broke open a close game with four third-period goals on the way to a 5-0 win. Former Wolf Pack Yann Danis then blanked the Pack for the Albany Devils Saturday night at the XL Center, stopping all 24 shots he faced in a 4-0 verdict. On Sunday in Bridgeport, the Wolf Pack outshot the Sound Tigers 30-18 but could not solve Bridgeport netminder Christopher Gibson, who led the Sound Tigers to a 1-0 squeaker of a victory.

This week:

The Wolf Pack head to Portland for a two-game series with the Pirates, 7:00 PM games this Wednesday and Friday. After a rare Saturday night off, the club returns to the XL Center Sunday, hosting the AHL-leading Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 4:00 PM.

Wednesday, November 11 at the Portland Pirates (Florida) at the Cross Insurance Arena, 7:00 PM

- The Pirates are in the first year of an affiliation with the Florida Panthers, after four seasons of partnership with the Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes. Portland's new head coach is former Hartford Whaler Tom Rowe, who helmed the Panthers' AHL affiliate last season, the San Antonio Rampage.

- After a 3-1-0-0 start, the Pirates have lost five straight games. With a 3-6-0-0 record for six points and a .333 points percentage, Portland is tied with Lehigh Valley for seventh place in the Atlantic Division, seven points behind the fourth-place Wolf Pack.

- This is the first of ten games on the season between the Wolf Pack and Pirates, and the first of five visits by the Pack to the Cross Insurance Arena. Last season, playing in different divisions, the two clubs met four times. It was a home-ice series, with both teams sweeping their two home games.

- Portland's top performers thus far have been wingers Rob Schremp, a tenth-year pro who has 6-2-8 on the year, and Wayne Simpson, who is tied for the AHL rookie lead in assists (0-8-8).

Friday, November 13 at the Portland Pirates (Florida) at the Cross Insurance Arena, 7:00 PM

- The Pirates are 3-2-0-0 in their five home games on the season, but have gone 0-4-0-0 on the road.

Sunday, November 15 vs. the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh) at the XL Center, 4:00 p.m.

- Wolf Pack Sunday home games again feature the Wolf Pack's "Click It or Ticket Family Value Pack" this year. The Family Value Pack includes two tickets, two sodas and two hot dogs, all for just $35.

- Fans are invited to bring their skates to this game, as there will be a free post-game skate on the XL Center ice. Skates can be dropped off before the game in the XL Center atrium, and after retrieving their skates post-game, fans will be escorted down to ice level for the skate.

- The Penguins come into this week with the top points percentage in the AHL, a mark of .900. Since splitting their first two games of the season, former New York Ranger assistant coach Mike Sullivan's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton team has won eight straight.

- This is the second matchup of the season between the Wolf Pack and Penguins, and the first of three visits on the year by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to Hartford. In the first meeting of the year, October 30 in Wilkes-Barre, the Penguins dropped the Wolf Pack by a score of 4-1.

- Wilkes-Barre/Scranton point and goal-scoring leader Scott Wilson (6-5-11 in 9 GP) had two goals, including the game-winner, in the Penguins' 4-1 home defeat of the Wolf Pack October 30.

- Tickets for this and all 2015-16 Wolf Pack home games are on sale now at the Agera Energy Ticket Office at the XL Center, on-line at www.hartfordwolfpack.com and by phone at (877) 522-8499. Tickets purchased in advance for kids 12 or younger have been reduced to $10 this season, and all tickets will have a $2 day-of-game increase.

Saturday, November 21, when the Wolf Pack host the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in a 7:00 PM game, the first 2,000 fans into the XL Center will receive a free, full-color Wolf Pack calendar, presented by Gaylord Specialty Healthcare. There will also be a Thanksgiving food drive at that game, and at the Pack's home game the next day, Sunday, November 22 vs. Utica. Any fan who donates five or more non-perishable food items will receive a buy-one-get-one-free voucher redeemable for any 2015-16 Wolf Pack home game.

Once again this season, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs and $2 beers at every Friday Wolf Pack home game, through the start of the second period. The first Friday-night home game of the season is November 27, when the Pack host the Springfield Falcons at 7:15 PM.

The Wolf Pack have 11 Sunday home games this year, and all of those will feature the Wolf Pack's "Click It or Ticket Family Value Pack". The Family Value Pack includes two tickets, two sodas and two hot dogs, all for just $35. The Wolf Pack are back on home ice next Sunday, November 22, hosting the Utica Comets in a 3:00 game.

Wolf Pack "Winning Wednesdays" also return for the 2015-16 season. If the Wolf Pack win at home on a Wednesday night, fans can show their Winning Wednesday ticket at the Agera Energy Ticket Office at the XL Center and receive a free ticket to the next Wolf Pack home game (some restrictions apply). The Wolf Pack's next Wednesday home outing is February 17, a 7:00 PM game vs. the Providence Bruins.
