Canucks Reassign Bachman & Recall Markstrom from Comets Conditioning Assignment

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has reassigned goaltender Richard Bachman and recalled Jacob Markstrom from his conditioning assignment with the Utica Comets.

Bachman recorded a win in his lone appearance for the Canucks this season. He stopped 28 of the Arizona Coyotes' 31 shots on goal on Oct. 15. The 2015 American Hockey League All-Star played the majority of last season with the Oklahoma City Barons where he finished with a 2.38 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage in 23 games. He also played in seven games for the Edmonton Oilers, posting a 2.84 goals-against average and .911 save percentage.

The 27-year old goaltender has played in 43 career NHL games (Vancouver, Edmonton and Dallas) and has a record of 18-14-2.

Bachman was originally selected by the Dallas Stars in the fourth round, 120th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Markstrom, 25, posted a record of 1-0-1, a 2.40 GAA, and a .909 save percentage during his two-game conditioning stint with the Comets. He returns from a hamstring injury sustained on October 6th. Prior to the injury, Markstrom appeared in four preseason games for Vancouver, posting a record of 2-0-0 including one shutout, a 1.01 GAA, and a .962 save percentage. He appeared in three games with the Canucks in 2014.15 and 32 games with the Utica Comets, where he posted a record of 22-7-2, a GAA of 1.88, save percentage of 0.934 and five shutouts. Markstrom backstopped the Comets to the Calder Cup Finals with a 0.925 save percentage and 2.11 GAA through 23 games.
