Let's Play Two, Part Two

The IronBirds and Yankees will play a double-header after Sunday's scheduled game was postponed due to rain. Aberdeen defeated Staten Island on Sunday in the completion of the suspended game from June 25th. The IronBirds won 11-8 in ten innings after play was resumed in the bottom of the fifth. Donnie Hart collected his first professional win in relief while Nick Rumbelow took the loss for the Yankees.

The Deed Has Been Done

Ironbirds' short stop Jared Breen set the franchise record for most consecutive games with a hit at 18 with his single in the top of the eighth inning off of Andrew Benak.. He surpassed the mark set previously by former Aberdeen IronBird Brandon Fahey. His streak lasted from June 30th- July 17th, 2002. Breen's streak lasted from June 25th-July 15th.

Tie Goes To The... Pitcher?

Austin Urban tied Sebastian Vader for the longest individual outing on the year when he officially recorded eight innings pitched in today's game against Staten Island. Urban's final line included eight innings where he gave up nine hits, eight runs (all earned), six walks and six strike outs.

Big Bats In The Line Up

Catcher Austin Wynns has put together a seven-game hit streak over the past nine days. The streak began when he went 1 for 4 on July 18th on the road against the Vermont Lake Monsters. He had his best game of the year on July 24th in Aberdeen against the Lake Monsters. He went 4 for 4 with three singles and a double. Hector Veloz and Trey Mancini are now tied for the team lead in RBIs with 21 and Conor Bierfeldt's solo home run in yesterday's resumed game gives him the team lead with six on the year.

On the mound tonight...

RHP Steve Johnson will be making his second rehab appearance for the IronBirds in the first game of the double header. He had his first rehab start against the Vermont Lake Monsters on July 24th. LHP Jorge Rivera will get the nod for game two. Rivera is 2-0 on the year with a 1.52 ERA in ten appearances. RHP Cale Coshow heads to the mound in game one for the Yankees. He is 0-1 on the year with a 3.05 ERA in seven games. Game two will feature RHP Giovanny Gallegos on the mound for the start. Gallegos is 2-2 on the year with a 3.03 on the year in 35.2 innings pitched.
