IronBirds Shutout Spikes
July 21, 2015 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
The IronBirds shut out the State College Spikes, 1-0 in a tight contest on Tuesday night. The lone run came in the 8th inning when Ricardo Andujar scored on a Kirvin Moesquit sacrifice fly.
Close, but No Cigar
The Spikes had the bases loaded in the top of the fourth due to a single, error, and a fielder's choice, but Cristian Alvarado was able to work himself out of the jam by striking out two.
Better Late Than Never
In the bottom of the eighth, Ricardo Andujar singled to lead off the frame. After Cedric Mullins walked and a passed ball put runners at second and third, Kirvin Moesquit hit a sacrifice-fly to left field to score Andujar making it 1-0 IronBirds. It would be the only run the IronBirds would need.
"K"nocking Them Down
The IronBird's pitching staffed once again combined for double digit strikeouts. Alvarado struck out seven, Tanner Scott struck out six, and Jay Flaa struck out two to total 15 on the evening.
