July 21, 2015 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters suffered just their second extra innings loss of the season coming up short 7-6 against the Hudson Valley Renegades in 12 innings on Tuesday night. The Cutters drop the first game of the series and have lost back to back games despite a 4 for 5 effort from Jan Hernandez.
The Cutters jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning against Hudson Valley starter Michael Velasquez with an RBI single from Jan Hernandez. Hernandez plated Brendon Hayden after he lead off the inning with a double. The lead would be short lived as the Renegades rallied for three runs against Cutters starter Alejandro Arteaga to take a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
Williamsport would see the deficit reach 4-1 before erupting for four runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game and then take a 5-4 lead. Hayden cut the lead to 4-2 with his second double of the night scoring Mark Laird. A Josh Tobias sacrifice fly cut the lead to 4-3 as the Cutters continued to chip away against the Renegades. Hernandez delivered the big hit in the inning crushing a two run home to left field, giving him six on the season to put the Cutters out front 5-4.
The Cutters added an insurance run in the seventh inning as Grenny Cumana scored from third base on a wild pitch to make it a 6-4 game. A valiant effort out of the bullpen from Rob Tasin would turn south in the bottom half of the inning as the Renegades would rally one more time to plate two runs and tie the game 6-6. The game would go to extra innings and with Feliberto Sanchez pitching for the Cutters in the bottom of the 12th inning,
Jake Cronenworth sent the first pitch of the inning over the right field wall to give Hudson Valley a 7-6 win.
