
Iowa Energy Announce Returning, Tryout Players for 2014 Training Camp

Des Moines, Iowa. - The Iowa Energy announced today the acquisitions of Patrick Christopher, Kalin Lucas, Earl Clark, Justin Hurtt and Chris Wright. Clark will join the Energy's training camp roster via the affiliate players rule after being signed by the Memphis Grizzlies as a free agent on Sept. 25 and later waived on Oct. 22. This rule allows D-League teams to claim the rights of up to four players waived from their parent club. Iowa owned the returning player rights to Christopher, Hurtt, Lucas and Wright.
In addition, the Energy have invited four local tryout players to training camp, Josh Warren, Ferrakohn Hall, Chris Hines and Pierre Henderson-Niles.
Christopher (6-5, 209) averaged 4.5 points and 0.6 rebounds on .452 shooting in 10.0 minutes in eight preseason games for the Memphis Grizzlies. Christopher averaged 13.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 50 games with the Energy last season, including a career-high 47 points in the Energy's win over Maine on April 4, 2014. He also finished in 4th place, League-wide, in 3-pt percentage at .446.
Lucas (6-1, 186) averaged 3.1 points and 1.0 assists on .429 shooting in 7.9 minutes in eight preseason appearances for the Memphis Grizzlies. Lucas also played for Memphis in the NBA Summer League. Lucas returns to the Energy following the 2013-2014 season where he averaged 15.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.1 steals per contest.
Clark (6-10, 225) averaged 5.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists on .474 shooting in 12.5 minutes in four preseason appearances for the Memphis Grizzlies. Clark was a 1st round selection (14th pick overall) of the Phoenix Suns in the 2009 NBA Draft. He is also familiar with Iowa, having been assigned by the Suns for a 3 game stint back in 2010. During said games with the Energy Clark averaged 20.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks.
Hurtt (6-5, 205) returns to the Energy after previously playing in Iowa during the 2012-2013 season. Hurtt averaged 12.3 points, 2.6 rebounds in 43 games for the Energy.
Wright (6-9, 226) returns to the Energy after previously playing the 2012-2013 season in Iowa. Wright averaged 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 6.8 assists in 42 games (all starts) for the Energy.
Josh Warren (6-9, 220) went undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft. He played in 64 games (17 starts) at Troy University and averaged 12.9 minutes, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 points.
Ferrakohn Hall (6-8, 220) played in 95 games for Seton Hall and the University of Memphis averaging 11.5 minutes, 2.7 points and 2.1 rebounds.
Chris Hines (6-0, 185) played at Utah before transferring to Drake for the 2012-13 season. Hines averaged 26.8 minutes, 2.1 rebounds on .403 shooting while playing for Drake.
Pierre Henderson-Niles (6'8, 300) went undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft after playing four years at the University of Memphis. He averaged 10.4 minutes, 2.9 rebounds and .468 shooting in 110 career games.
