Drive Participates in Trade Deal with Maine Red Claws

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN- OCTOBER 31, 2014- - The Grand Rapids DRIVE have acquired the returning player rights to center Daniel Orton and a 6th round pick in the 2014 NBA Development League Draft from the Maine Red Claws, Boston Celtics affiliate, in exchange for the DRIVE's 3rd round selection, originally held by the Austin Spurs, in Saturday's draft.
Orton, a 6'10 forward, was originally drafted by the Orland Magic in the first round of the 2010 NBA Draft. In addition to the Magic, Orton has also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Philadelphia 76ers during his four-year career. Last season he appeared in 24 games with the Red Claws, averaging 11.3 points and 7.2 rebounds.
This trade is the first for the DRIVE in its inaugural 2014-15 season. The DRIVE currently holds six picks in the first three rounds of the 2014 NBA Development League Draft, including the first overall pick. The Draft takes place Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 3:30pm ET. Fans can watch the draft show live on NBADLeague.com.
