DES MOINES, IA - The Salt Lake Bees (59-52) use two long balls to take the edge and beat the Iowa Cubs (41-69) 6-4, Friday at Principal Park.

Iowa opened the bottom of the first inning with a Ryan Court RBI double and a Jason Vosler sac fly, before using a Taylor Davis soft RBI single to get a quick 3-0 lead.

Luke Farrell cruised through the Bees' lineup in the first inning but ran into trouble, giving up a sac fly in the second which left the game 3-1.

Farrell lost control in the fourth as the Bees plated three to take a 4-3 edge. Joe Hudson mashed a home run over the left field wall to account for two of the runs.

Kyle Ryan replaced Farrell in the fifth inning and pitched a solid 3.0 scoreless innings in relief.

James Norwood replaced Ryan and entered the game in the eighth inning, giving up a home run to Jared Walsh to put the Bees ahead 6-3. The home run by Walsh was the first earned run Norwood has given up while in Triple-A.

Dillon Maples pitched a scoreless ninth inning, which marked his 20th-straight appearance without giving up an earned run.

Iowa added a run in the ninth inning from a Jacob Hannemann single, but the team fell short 6-4.

The Iowa Cubs will welcome the Las Vegas 51s for a four-game series with the first pitch scheduled for 7:08 tomorrow night. Fans can enjoy Pre-Game Catch on the Field, to begin at approximately 5:50. For more information or tickets visit www.iowacubs.com.
