From the Notes
Going for 3K: Tonight the Nashville Sounds are seeking their 3,000th win in franchise history. The Sounds are 2,999-2,836 all-time, which is a winning percentage of .514. 1,484 of the 2,999 wins have come in the PCL era (1998-pres-ent). 130 of the wins have come at First Tennessee Park.
Strive for Five: With a victory tonight the Sounds would match their season-long winning streak of five games. Nash-ville has had two previous streaks of five straight wins. Their first came from April 14-19 against Omaha (three games) and Iowa (two games). Their second came from July 6-13, all against Iowa.
The Brooms are Ready: A win tonight for the Sounds would give them their second sweep of the season. They swept Oklahoma City in four games from July 26-28 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Sounds have not completed a three-game sweep since June 27-29, 2007 when they swept Albuquerque in a three-game series.
Ducks on the Pond: The Sounds have matched their season-high by leaving 13 run-ners on base in each of the last three games. Nashville has left 13 runners stranded five different times this season.
Late Game Heroics: The Sounds are 5-46 on the season when trailing after seven innings but have won the last two games they have played in which they have been in that situation. They were down 7-4 after seven innings against Salt Lake on July 30 before rallying for an 11-8 win in 11 innings. Last night the Sounds were in a 1-0 deficit after seven innings before scoring a run in the eighth inning and another in the ninth to claim the victory.
Turning Me On...Base: Three different current Sounds players are currently sporting on-base streaks of at least 10 games. Boog Powell has reached safely in all 10 games he has played for the Sounds this season. Melvin Mercedes is on a season-long 12-game on-base streak and Beau Taylor has reached base safely in 13 straight games. His sea-son-long is 17 games.
