Reno Aces News Release
Reno, NEV. - Game two between Reno and Colorado Springs went in favor of the Aces by a score of 6-2. Reno was led offensively by rehabbing Deven Marrero who went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, Ildemaro Vargas extended his current hit streak to 28 games with a single to center field. Vargas is batting .382, (47-for-123), with 21 runs scored, 10 doubles, 11 RBI during his streak. Starting pitcher Taylor Clarke went 6.0 inning, striking out four Colorado Springs batters and allowed seven hits. The win improves the Aces to a record of 57-53 and 6.0 games behind first-place Fresno.
Kevin Cron put up a crooked number in the first inning when he homered (19th of the season) off the scoreboard to give Reno the 2-0 early advantage. An inning later, the Aces plated four more runs with the help from a pair of doubles from Marrero and Socrates Brito to put Reno up by six. Colorado Springs tacked on two runs in the third inning to cut the Aces lead to 6-2, but that's all the Sky Sox offense could muster against a stout Reno pitching staff. Starting pitcher Taylor Clarke struck out four Sky Sox batters in his six innings of work, to pick up his 10th win of the 2018 campaign. The Aces bullpen of Joey Krehbiel and Silvino Bracho combined for three shutout innings to preserve the Aces 6-2 victory which is the seventh straight for Reno.
