Salt Lake Bees News Release

Five Salt Lake pitchers combined to throw a three hitter, as the Bees blanked the Iowa Cubs 2-0 on Thursday night.

After Deck McGuire worked the first inning, Tyler Stevens (1-3) pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win. Conor Lillis-White delivered two shutout innings and Williams Jerez, who was acquired by the Angels from Boston in the Ian Kinsler trade, tossed a scoreless seventh. Jeremy Rhoades retired all six batters he faced, four by strikeout, to record his fourth save of the season. The shutout was the third of the season for the Salt Lake pitching staff and they did not allow a hit after a one out double in the sixth by Stephen Bruno.

The Bees, who were shutout on Tuesday, took the lead in the fifth inning on a two out solo homer to left field on an 0-1 pitch by Alberto Triunfel, his first career Triple-A home run. They would add one more in the sixth on a two out bases empty blast on a1-2 pitch by Jared Walsh and it was also his first at this level and his 22nd of the season at A, AA and Triple-A combined.
