COLUMBIA, S.C. (Nov. 3, 2007)- Inferno winger Jeff Miles potted two goals and an assist, but it wasn't enough as the visiting South Carolina Stingrays (5-3-1-0, 11 points) beat Columbia 5-4 and ended the Inferno's (3-4-0-0, six points) modest two-game winning streak.

The Stingrays carried a 3-0 lead thanks to a goal by Stephen Werner and a pair by Travis Morin until midway through the second period when Inferno center Peter Tsimikalis scored a backhander low on Stingrays goaltender Josh Johnson's glove side. Miles tallied his first of the night at 11:06 to cut the deficit to 3-2 when he scored on a backdoor play, smacking the puck past Johnson. The Inferno looked to take the 3-2 score into the third period, but S.C. center Matt Reid beat Todd Ford with a wrister from the far circle with just .4 seconds left to push the lead back to two goals.

Inferno winger Daniel Sparre tallied his sixth goal of the season six minutes into the third to trim the deficit to 4-3 when he fired a heavy wrist shot from the slot, beating Johnson's glove side. Stingrays defenseman Scott Romfo scored what would become the game-winning goal at 12:52 when he redirected a Chris Chaput rebound past Ford. Miles tallied his second of the night (his sixth of the season) with about 2:30 left in the game when he slapped a pass from Sparre past Johnson from the point.

The Inferno return from a three-game road trip through when they host the Florida Everblades Tuesday, Nov. 13th at 7:05. Season tickets, group tickets, fundraisers and the coolest birthday parties in town are all available by calling 803.256.7825 or by logging on to ColumbiaInferno.com.
