Devils fall to Bombers, 5-1

DAYTON, OH - Dayton right winger Chance Fitzpatrick became the 25th player in the history of the ECHL and the second Bomber to score five goals in a game, as the Trenton Devils were defeated, 5-1, at the Nutter Center.

Fitzpatrick tallied all five goals in the third period - which is believed to be an ECHL record -while also tying the league record with four power play goals, set by Matt Oates of the Columbus Chill on March 8, 1996.

With the Bombers trailing 1-0 going to the third period, Fitzpatrick began the onslaught with a power play goal just fifty-seconds into frame as he snuck a backhander past Trenton goalie Jason Smith. He then gave Dayton their first lead of the contest over two minutes later with his only even-strength marker of the night.

The fourth-year pro added his final three goals over 2:33 in the last five minutes of the game. On a two-man advantage at 15:03, Yannick Tifu - four assists in the contest - found Fitzpatrick alone in between the hash marks for a wrister that slipped through the five-hole of Smith.
