Tonight's Game

The Columbia Inferno (5-3-1) and the Greenville Grrrowl (1-5-0) meet for the first time this season. The Inferno is in second place in the Southern Division of the Eastern Conference with 11 points and the Greenville Grrrowl is in last place with two points in the Southern Division.

Last Inferno Game – Columbia 2 SOUTH CAROLINA 3 Monday, November 3rd

The Columbia Inferno fell short one goal as the South Carolina Stingrays skate away with a 3-2 victory. The Stingrays ignited the scoring when Curtis Huppe slipped the puck passed goaltender Josh Blackburn at 1:21. The Inferno's Paul Cabana scored his second goal to notch the score at one. The Stingrays increased their lead when Shawn Skiehar netted his first goal of the season at the 3:57 mark of the second period. With time dying out in the second period, Marty Clapton scored with 15 seconds left on the power to give the Stingrays a 2-1 lead. Sean Owens redirected a Dennis Vial blue line blast to inch the Inferno closer on a shorthanded goal. With a 1:30 left in the game, Coach White pulled Blackburn and applied pressure in the Stingrays zone, but came up short.

Columbia Inferno Highlights

Paul Cabana has a one goal in each of his last two games...Tim Smith is on a five game point streak (2g-6a)...Robin Carruthers has five points in his last three games (2g-3a)...Derek Eastman (2g-5a) and Terry Harrison (3g-3a) are among the leading scorers for rookies...Greg Amadio leads rookies in the ECHL with 10 minor penalties...Sean Owens is the only defenseman in the ECHL with a shorthanded goal...Jesse Schultz is tied for the lead among rookie scorers with five goals.

Greenville Grrrowl

Han Sung Kim (1st Korean-born player in the ECHL) leads the Grrrowl with 4 goals in 5 games this season... Mike Henderson and rookie Rae Metz share the scoring lead for the Grrrowl with 5 points in 5 games...Scott Kabotoff (G) won his first professional game with a 36 save effort in the 6-2 win over Augusta... The Grrrowl have been out-shot in all 5 games at the start of the season...The Grrrowl are now 4-26 (2 SHGA) in power-play opportunities (15.38%)...The Grrrowl are now 20 for 21 on penalty-kill (95.4%), for 3rd best in the ECHL.

Inferno will travel to face-off against the Roanoke Express on Saturday, November 8th at 7:30pm.

The Grrrowl will travel to play the Florence Pride on Saturday, November 8th.

The Series vs. Greenville

The Inferno is 12-4-1 all-time against the Grrrowl and 3-0-0 during post-season play. The last game between these two teams, Columbia beat Greenville 6-4 on April 7th to advance in the Southern Conference Quarterfinals.

Friday, November 14th: Salvation Army Night/Ladies Night: The Inferno will help kick off the Holiday Red Kettle Drive for the Salvation Army...Ladies Night: First 500 ladies will receive a flower when entering the building and there will be lots of other prizes for the ladies in attendance.

Wednesday, November 26th: Turkey Bowling Night: The Harvest Hope will be here collecting food for the holiday season. Fans are encouraged to bring canned food for the needy.

Friday, November 28th: Toys for Tots...Season of Giving. Fans are asked to bring a toy to donate to the Toys for Tots program. Marines will be here to help collect the toys.

Friday, December 5th: WMHK Bear for Caring – Bring a teddy bear and after the first goal the Inferno score you can throw the bear on the ice as a donation to WMHK's Bears for Caring program. These bears will be distributed throughout the Midlands.
